About Me

I'm a loving daughter, sister and friend transplanted from New York, currently living in Orlando, Florida.  I'm a dreamer and a do-er and I need creativity to survive daily life.  I do jewelry design, cake decorating, photography, and, of course, I scrapbook.

    Cosmo Cricket Design Team Call

I want to be a cricket!  (Chirp, chirp.)  And not just any old cricket...one for Julie on her amazing Cosmo Cricket design team!

Have you ever been asked if you love a band and say, "I'm not sure I know that band..." then you're listening to a song in the car you just love to sing along to and when you hear the radio personality say who sings it you realize it's that band someone asked you about not too long ago and you've loved them all along?  That's how my "love affair" with Cosmo Cricket began.  Around 2 or so years ago I purchased a teal and orange colored paper I just LOVED at a scrapbook expo.  I loved it so much I continued to look for papers designed in the same style and so over the years I accumulated things here and there...that I came to find out, a few months ago, was Cosmo Cricket!  (Gosh, I hope that makes sense!)  That original paper is featured below on an altered clipboard I made and I love it as much now as I did when I bought it.

So what are they looking for in a design team member?  On Cosmo Cricket's blog, Julie posted the following:

    1. People who love Cosmo Cricket products and feel inspired by them. (CHECK!)
    2. People who have a great sense of design.(CHECK!)
    3. People who are creative.(CHECK!)
    4. People who maintain an active blog and are connected to online communities.(CHECK!)
    5. People who are not afraid to submit for publication.(CHECK!)
    6. People who are low maintenance, dedicated, easy to get along with, generally happy and fun to be around. (It's going to be hard to beat last year's team on this one!) (CHECK!)

I know I have what it takes!  I just wanted to take a moment to further respond to those items.

    1. I truly adore Cosmo Cricket products.  I find it incredibly easy to create with them, probably because they really do spark a flame in my head and inspire me to create more, more and more projects.

    2. I have a great sense of design whether it be from making a card to designing curtains for my apartment!  I think that my many talents in the craft world really assist me in succeeding in design.  I scrapbook, of course, but I also bead, do cake decorating, sew, knit, and paint.  Many of the skills I have to do those crafts cross over into scrapbooking.

    3. I consider myself a highly creative individual.  So much so that I think it'd be hard to live without it!  (Well, I'm certain people go on lively their lives who aren't creative but I feel extra special and blessed to have such an intense sense of creativity.)

    4. I have had this blog for quite some time and I'm very involved in online communities including Two Peas in a Bucket (and I'm not just a member - I'm an ACTIVE member), many digital scrapbooking websites that cross over into the paper world, some photography sites, and more.  Not only do I post projects on my blog but I've gotten into doing tutorials on how I created certain projects because I think that education is empowering and I love passing the knowledge I have on to other crafty people.

    5. I'm definitely not afraid to submit my projects for publication!  I think it's pretty cool to do that actually!

    6. I am certainly low maintenance, easy to get along with (I hate drama, yuck!) and easy going.  I also consider myself to be a team player, responsible, honest, and optimistic!

So without further delay, here are some of the projects I've created in the past, present and even one that's in the works for future completion.

The first project is a mini album (probably my most favorite type of album to make) I created using Cosmo Cricket's SNORKEL line and Cosmo Cricket's Blackboard "Gracie" album.  (If you haven't used their blackboard albums you MUST try them.  I've used a few now and they're the best!!)  After looking at the adorable papers in the Snorkel line, my initial reaction was to make something using photos of beach trips.  But no!  That's too obvious!

So I put some real thought into it and came up with the idea of making a mini album with a "Fish in the Sea" theme.  My fiance and I (now ex-fiance) broke our engagement off about a month ago and it was good therapy for me to make this album.  I including lessons learned from my relationship with him and two other serious ex-boyfriends from my life, journaling about what I learned about myself, love and relationships in general from being with them.

(That man and woman in the boat was PERFECT for my album!)

Next up is a clipboard I made using Cosmo Cricket's WANTED line, particularly the Calamity Jane paper.  The great thing about this project is that it was cost effective!  Especially with people having to cut their scrapbooking budget these days because of the economy, I think it's nice to point out that I only used one double-sided sheet of 12x12 paper to cover the clipboard!

I wanted to post some other projects I'm proud of too that I think showcases what I can do pretty well.

Here's a tin I decorated for my favorite baked goods recipes. (I made this before the Cosmo Cricket "Early Bird" line came out - otherwise it would've been perfect!  I do have that line in my stash now though and I can't wait to play with it.)

This next one's a frame I made from a simple wooden base I bought at my local craft store and some paper, flowers, rhinestones and metal embellishments.  I wanted to submit this frame as part of my Cosmo Cricket design team application because I hand water colored that paper that's the frame's background.

Next is a tiny tin I decorated to hold a deck of cards.  It was a fun hybrid project (I used both paper and digital scrapbooking supplies) to work on.  I even did some "friendship" bracelet embroidery for the bottom of the top lid.

And last is a project I have in the works but I just love how the cover came out so I wanted to show it off a bit!

Thank you so much for visiting my blog, reading what I had to say and viewing my projects.  Good luck to all other scrapbookers that have applied!
